The Sysadmins sub-group of the San Francisco Community Colo is a self-managing, all volunteer group of system administrators who are responsible for support & network maintenance. The group is governed by it's own policies & procedures document?.

If you're interested in participating in the sysadmins group, here is a quick guide to getting involved:

  1. Sign up for the sysadmins mailing list.
  2. Browse the SysadminsPolicyGuide? to get an idea of how we work.
  3. Browse the ticket system to see what kinds of tasks are currently pending for the sysadmins group.
  4. If you see an open task that you think you could do, send an e-mail to the mailing list. Don't be shy! The group depends on people taking the initiative and just jumping into things.
  5. Hang out in the IrcChannel. This is a good way to talk with people doing SFCCP work.

Here are some miscellaneous links of interest or working documents for the sysadmins group:

  • NetworkOps - The network operations group is a smaller sub-group of SFCCP responsible only for the switch that lies between us and our uplink. This sub-group is kept smaller in order to increase security.
  • Micah's advice - this is a page from our original wiki which is a brain dump from Micah, one of the founding members of the Seattle CCP.
